Home position
ASDF
JKL;
Start by positioning your hands so fingers are in home position on the home row. This row consists of keys
ASDF
and KKKK
and is the starting point for most typing combinations. In this position, index fingers are on keys F and J, which have small bumps allowing keyboard navigation without visual contact.Once hands are in proper home position, you can start typing, moving across the keyboard using memory and practice.Finger movement
Don't look at the keyboard while typing. Just let your fingers glide over the keys until you find the home row.
Minimize hand and finger movements, limiting yourself to only necessary presses. Keep hands and fingers close to home position to increase typing speed and reduce strain on wrists.
Pay attention to ring fingers and pinkies as they often remain inactive.
Typing
- Don't try to type instantly. Start typing slowly, and increase speed only when all ten fingers are accustomed to their keys.
- Don't rush while typing to avoid mistakes - speed will increase gradually.
- Always look one or two words ahead.
- If you have difficulties typing, check the keyboard to determine if issues are software or hardware related.
- Be sure to complete all lessons on the All 10 typing tutor, and soon your typing speed will increase significantly!
Don't forget to rest
If you notice you're making mistakes, don't hesitate to take a break. A short pause will help restore energy and focus, allowing you to continue with renewed energy.
